Oh, this is perfect

I just shared this with my daughter, thought I'd share it with you, too.

She's a big fan of English accents, that girl is...so this is perfect for her to see. She's got a big big day today and she's nervous about it.

She is a Graphic Design major. All of the sophomores have to present their portfolio of work (to date) to a panel of professors in the big critique room in the round (a gorgeous room in on her campus). They have to have their top 8 or 9 projects, mounted and spiffy... and have handouts, write a paper...and so on. She presents hers today. The art professors decide whether or not the students can continue with this major! Sorta intense! We are 100% confident she will do just fine. But still...she's nervous. So anyway, I hope it makes you smile, too!

Today over on The Take Heart E-Workshop, I'm delighted to feature Guest Designer, Kris Hurst! She has 4 pages of gorgeous vintage graphics she's sharing with her project. So great!!! Love them.

Plus, she is offering a giveaway to the subscribers...her new Vintage Valentine CD! That CD has over 300 vintage images. Wow. I have accumulated several of her CD's over the years. They are great resources for vintage graphic lovers.

Rambleness on a Monday

Hooray for Monday, and it's a snow day! No school! And I know what we're having for dinner tonight, because we planned ahead and shopped before the snow came! Good feeling to have all that out of the way, and not have to go out into the snow today. Although I would really love to bake a chocolate cake today. But I need buttermilk for the recipe, so, hmmm. Maybe tomorrow. Oh dear, where was I?

 

Doing some projects I've been wanting to do, hooray! More on that later.

The Collected Kits are shipping out today! I think their packaging turned out cute. The little tag could be used later on something! Even made a few extra for myself.

 

Got a few shots of our little snow shoveler. He was excited to do it!

 

 

These were taken yesterday, there's way-hey-hey more snow out there now. He's got good form though...I'm betting he will be a pro at this by March. :)

 

P.S. I'm still thinking about that chocolate cake. Just might have to venture out for that buttermilk.

 

I love art shows (sigh)

Especially when they are on pretty Spring evenings in beautiful historical buildings like this:

Art shows are even more delightful when you go to them with your family, and their eyes light up when they experience the art that surrounds them.

 

This was the NAIF Art Show, and this little miss you-know-who had a piece in it! She has been excited about this for months. She was the only freshman who had work selected to be in this show. Here's her 2-D piece entitled "Dirty Highway":

And here she is winning Honorable Mention!

 

She was the only one from her college to win an award. There were so many many amazing pieces there, so that was surprising. Our minds were popping out of our skulls. So much fresh talent in that room that night!

I don't think any of us will forget this night any time soon!

Here is Where Women Create

Guess what landed in my mailbox the other day?

The hottest magazine in the art world these days, Where Women Create. This issue features a fabulous line up. I haven't read the whole magazine yet, but almost. Is it even fair to call it a magazine? It's so beautiful and filled with so many stories from artists. I've always enjoyed the work of Ruth Rae,  Lisa Guerin, Debbee Thibault, Nicole Bowen   and Nicol Sayre so seeing their studios and reading their stories was high on my list. So great to peek into their everyday worlds!

How many times have we seen Mary's studio? Many times in Home Companion over the years. I think I've looked at those photos of her creative space with the magazine at the end of my nose. In this issue she shares even more of her studios (work and home). So homey and so "Mary"!

Where Women Create Magazine is found in the photography and arts section of my Barnes and Noble. And that's where it should be...it's a work of art and so are the women inside it.

Back in April, Jo Packham, Chief Editor and her wonderful photographer Paula visited and shot hours worth of photos. We had such a great afternoon together. I am delighted to see their take on my studio and story in this issue.

The night she wore pink high tops

You might think, how silly. You would be right. To Prom? What better time to be your silly self than a night out with your peeps. The last hurrah, you know.

 And so she did. And he was proud. And so was I. Very proud. Plus, no worries about hurting her healing ankle before Districts if you wear high tops. Right?

 And when all the others wore long dresses, she wore a short one. What gorgeous dresses, right?

 She liked it that way. And they did all of their silly poses.

 The way silly girls do. And some traditional ones, too.

 It was a glorious evening with friends!
