Sock Bun

Have you heard of it? I'd heard of it, but never took the time to find out the details. I finally did though and tried it out last night. Here is what I woke up to:

 

I had to curl my bangs, but really that's it. My bangs aren't long enough to fit into a ponytail, so that was expected. Well, actually I didn't know what to expect, but I figured it was worth a try.

I was really scared to see the results, but it worked out well for my first attempt.

The best part is there is no heat. Easy peazy...if I can do this, anyone can.

I'm dying to see my daughter's long locks curled like this! We both have straight as a board, fine hair. It's soooo hard to curl. Maybe over Thanksgiving holidays I can talk her into trying it out!

 

Daisies, Raspberries and Kringle

It's a beautiful day in May here, hope that the weather is wonderful where you are. My Mom and Step Dad visited this weekend. We had such a nice time! Always so great to see and connect with them.

 

 

A smart blogger would have taken more photos. I am not a smart blogger...sigh. Kicking myself for not taking photos of them. We had some great food. Lemon bars, brownies, french macarons (from Jones Brothers). No photos to share...plus our boys devoured most of it, in record time. Naturally!

I did get a photo of the raspberries before they were gone though...they were a big hit. I put milk chocolate and white chocolate chips into the washed and dried raspberries. Soooo simple, and so tasty. I'll definitely make them again.

 

My Mom and Step Dad brought us some of the best Danish Kringle...they picked it up at one of our family's favorite Danish restaurants. This dessert is crunchy on the outside, then light and flaky on the inside, and has a thin layer of almond filling. What a special treat! Thanks, Mom.

 

I hope you had a great weekend, too. I have so many deadlines lurking, so back to work I go!

I stitched my kicks

This weekend I went down my list of "want to do somedays" and picked a simple project: embroider on a pair of tennies. I did bright, playful colors for Spring. Yay!

 

I only stitched on the right shoe. Is that bad? I should probably do the left shoe, too. These navy gingham Converse shoes are really inexpensive at Target right now. Several great solid colors, too.

 

I wouldn't say it was easy...and my fingers hurt, so I did a little at a time. If I had a little girl, I would be stitching on a pair of Keds or Converse for her for Spring and Summer. 

You could also stitch on a pair of the fabulous Tom's Shoes. Wouldn't that be great?
