The other day my studio was buzzing with the sounds of Christmas tunes, and the smiles of these fine fellows.
Last year I created a very similar "Pete" in my 12 Days of Comfort & Joy E-Workshop. I enjoyed having his sweet smile around so much last year, and even kept him close by in my studio all year. Silly I know. Sorta like Christmas all year long, right? Yes, I do stuff like that.
I made 4 sweet Petes with red peppermint tummies and 1 with a pink peppermint tummy. All the tummies are glittered with German Clear Glass Glitter, and so are the stripes on their black as coal hats.
You can see them all and pick up one for your holiday home on my website, here.
If you want to see how they were made, or make one for yourself, I created a tutorial.
For some reason, I think the video looks better if you click on my channel, right here. The top of the video frame isn't cut off like it is above. Sorry about that...I dunno how to fix that quite yet.
I hope you enjoy it! Make some for yourself or pick up one of the five over here.
Fabulous video, oh I was so happy to see you create your artwork!!! I have admired your blog for years, and loved gazing into the creative souls in the photos of siver bella!!! Thanks for sharing your inspirational art!!! and can't wait to see more of your videos.

Love, love, love the video. Seriously, tempted to stay up and create some Pete's! Alas, I have school and an exam on Tuesday so will have to wait until Friday. Anyhoo... what did you seal your canvas with? I missed that.

He's so adorable!! I might have to make a whole family of Pete's for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the tutorial. The quilting tool tip was genius and adds such a cute touch to the canvas. I noticed you use charcoal pencil for outlines - do you have trouble with it smearing when you apply the sealer to the canvas? I have in the past but maybe I'm just applying too much of it?
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. Love your work.

Hey Patti, I sealed it with Matte Mod Podge. One coat.

Hi Jill, my charcoal didn't smear. Do you use a pencil version? I smear it with my fingers which really works it into the paper. I bet if you used too much (too heavily applied) it would indeed smear when you sealed it. You could use gesso under the charcoal and it may not smear but I'd still work it into the paper/canvas with my finger or a stump, etc.

Thanks, Teresa! I just called my mom and that's what she was guessing. I'm glad to know for sure, though!

So cool! thanks for sharing. I'd love to try making something cute like that but I have to get over my fear of "messing up" lol
