The college hunt for our daughter is underway.
Yesterday we road tripped to a great small to medium sized university. Today she and her Dad will check out another one about an hour away. We feel like we are racing the clock here to find a good match for her before school starts! And we are!! It's all so crazy.
Know what the amazing part is? Recruiters on Facebook! Oh my. Like flies at a picnic in July. They are everywhere. It's creepy to me to be recruited there...not very formal at all. But it's a sign of the times I suppose. On the plus side, it's been a good communication source for her and her pals. It's like they all hold hands there and try and move forward together. Even though they won't be together for long. It's all pretty sad. Hopefully we'll have good news to report soon!
come to kearney!
great art program,
super community!
plus, she could
come and play

she wanted!!
:)
happy day!

My goodness this is a sad situation. I've been praying for all...the students, those who lost jobs, the community. I know my college age daughters would have just been devastated by such a situation. I know in the end your daughter will be not just fine, but great! I will continue to keep her in my prayers.

have you checked out midland? they are accepting all dana transfers, meeting all dana scholarships, and if you tour by 8-15 you get room/board free for a year! they are also saying you will have your dana roommates! i know they are a rival, lol, but they are pretty similar :)

Wishing you all the best during this trying time and I know it's really hard to remember right now...especially for your daughter...but...things do happen for a reason, so keep the faith. Fondly, Roberta

It is always such a relief to know where they will be.
Then to visit them, where they are.
To be able to picture them, in ones mind.
My son moves to Raleigh, NC later this month and I can't wait to visit.

I do hope you find "the right one" soon! Talk about making lemonade from life's lemons - what an upsetting thing just when you all thought she was settled in for the four years.
Best wishes for the search,
Jane - Jacksonville

The Midland offer mentioned above sounds very worth checking out! But I am an alum of Concordia, Seward, as are tons of my family members---great art/graphics program. The town of Seward is so sweet, safe, and comfortable, and only 20 minutes to Lincoln for a "big city" fix. I'm going back there, from the west coast, in a month for a wedding, and most of the symphonic and choral music dept. is participating in my niece's (music education grad) big day--should be wonderful. And I can't wait to go to the Saturday farmer's market in the cobblestone-d town square.

I am so shocked about Dana college. When I heard it on the news the other day I couldn't believe something like that happens... you just don't hear about a college closing out of the blue like that. I guess there is a reason for everything and I really hope your daughter finds a perfect fit for herself... a place she will be really happy! :)
