I'd like to say that's my exercise program. And it'd be a pretty good one. I'm not talking physical exercise though, I'm talking creative exercise. Because I carve out a niche of time on weekdays to work on freehand embroidery.
I must say that seeing my friend, Rebecca's sampler last summer inspired me. A lot! Her embroidery is far more advanced than mine, and her samplers. Mine are filled with more journaling and quotes than beautiful stitches. I only have the patience for about 3 styles/variations!
Maybe you remember seeing Pam's great samplers, too. She's got some adorable ones she worked on over the Christmas season!
Here's a few close ups of what can happen in my 20 minutes...little by little..
The backside looks sorta like a foreign language. In a strange way I like it.
This is a close up of the one I'm working on now. It's about 75% finished and I'm limiting myself to 20 minutes, 5 days a week.
I want to work on it more, this is also an exercise in patience for me.
It seems like I am always tweeting (lower left sidebar) that I am stitching...and thought those Twitter peeps were probably beginning to wonder what I was stitching!
Anyone else stitching samplers? I'd love to see them!
Now that's my kind of exercise program! I've always wanted to give this a try...thanks for the inspiration!!

Now this I find inspiring "exercise"...as a little girl I used to embroider all the time with my mom and grandmother. We went through a time in the 70's and embroidered our jeans...those were the days...maybe I'll do that again. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. Fondly, Roberta

Thanks for sharing Teresa. I was inspired to pick up a needle and thread after seeing your dolly in the ezine. After stitching up a few of my own I've been looking for more ways to practice and this looks like fun!

It draws the eye inward. Becoming very complex. Lovely....how will you know it is complete?
Question--are you using a hoop?

What a great idea to do 20 minutes of "exercise" a day...although I don't know if I could stop at just 20 :o)

I would have a much easier time to pick this up instead of cleaning of all the stuff of the treadmill and to get back on that,, but just 20 minutes. lol. Enjoy it.

Teresa- That totally knocked my socks off. Thanks for the inspiration and the kick in the rear to get started on one myself.

What a great idea. I am totally inspired!! Time to dig out the embroidery thread and ribbons. This is just the type of project I can do while waiting for my daughter this summer as she attends her first class at M.I.C.A. Can't wait to get started!
