Well, that's an easy riddle. Answer--my pal Lisa Kettell's darling new book, Altered Art Circus (Quarry Books)! I got an advanced copy in the mail recently and brought it with me today knowing it'd be the perfect read for carpool line.
Nothing like a latte and a big burst of color in the mid afternoon to brighten my spirits! And that it did. What a great escape it was flipping through the pages and peeking into the imaginary, artful and vintage circusful world she's created! Handmade theatres, shadowboxes, art cards, crowns, and more. Such fun! One chapter is dedicated to these circus animals.
Adorable, right? I am sooo drawn to them. Last night I was all over EBay looking for old circus toys! I can't wait to try making these sweet glamorized animals. And this one, well she's just my favorite:
A polka dot tiger?! Only in the circus, ladies and gentlemen! Love it!!! I was delighted to see the work of contributing artists near the back of the book, too. Gals like Laurie Duncan , Jenn Hayslip, Laurie Karla, just to name a few. I love their work, so always a treat to see it in print.
I should have brought the book inside so I could have taken some better pix for you. These are from my phone. The book is in the car...waiting to brighten my day again tomorrow. Looking forward to it! Reserve a copy for the child in you here!
Teresa - yesterday's martha stewart show had a segment with a girl who creates vintage-style pull toys. Check it out - maybe you'll make your own. She also sells on etsy.

Know what's funny, I was at the Martha Show yesterday, 3rd row in the audience, watching the paper mache toys being made, kept thinking of my own from the book! LOL!
Your review made my day, actually it brought smiles to my face!
Magic and Joy!
XOXO!
Lisa!

Loved this post, and to my surprise...these are the animals my two babes play with in the bathtub! The lion is pretty fierce...I would have never dream of "her" in polka dots! You would be happy to know, I got them at wal-mart, or the dollar tree, i think. I don't think my son will be willing to give them up, but I cannot wait to show these pics to my daughter, oh what fun awaits! Thanks!
