Earlier this Summer, I decided to declare a scent for our home. Not sure why but I felt it was high time to unify the majority of the scents in our house. For impact's sake I suppose. Better than mothballs...like my Grandma's house. Can I get an Amen?
I have been a long time lover of the scent of lavender. This herb is natural, long lasting and most of all relaxing. Even tried growing some in our backyard-but so far no luck. I use the lavender fabric softeners and detergents, especially nice on fresh warm towels. Shower spray is the perfect beginning to a day. Then there's an air freshener in the laundry area and upstairs.
Apifera Farms Etsy Site is where I got the raggedy fabric tied lavender stalks. That's Artist, Katherine Dunn's site. Love these bunches of lavender and her sachets, too. I tuck the sachets in my pillows on my bed-the perfect ending to a busy day. They last forever. Also use The Caldrea Linen Spray on the blankets, pillows when company comes-you know how it is-or when I can catch an afternoon nap.
But I think my overall favorite "lavender product" so far is the Meyer's Window Cleaner and the Countertop Cleaner. I actually look forward to using them! Going to get their handsoap and lotion next-heard it's great, too.
So there you have it....I still don't like the perfect color purple or the perfect color lavender...but I love the scent of lavender and will be a forever and ever fan.
ahhh lavender is the best! thanks for the tip on meyers, next time i'm at whole paycheck (tee hee) i'll pick some up! anything to make the drudgery more fun! xo

It's so smart to pick one scent. There is nothing like that Lavender smell, I love it! I have little bundles and all sorts of lavender stuff around our home...it reminds me of France, and my grandmama!
My eldest daughter (living in Europe right now) says Lavender is the new "neutral" color. so, there you have it! Lavender is the new little black dress of home interiors!

I'm not a "lavendar or purple fan" either. But maybe when we're older with blue hair. They seem to go together!

I love Mrs. Meyers too. We also have the geranium fragrance, it's lovely. That's an interesting idea, to make a statement with your home's fragrance.
Right now, I have about three candles by Yankee called 'Ginger Spice Cookie' which reminds me of autumn and pumpkin pies (my favorite scent) baking in the oven.... Yum!

If you happen to have the French Inspired Home book, she has the recipe for Lavender Linen Water. It's really really good stuff! I pour it in my laundry sometimes and spritz it on my ironing. You would love it i bet!

Amen to no moth balls!!! I think lavender is a much better choice. Like other readers - I am a seasonal person! Oddly, I have been wearing the same body scent for about 10 years.

I love both the color and the scent! I planted a lonely little lavender plant last year in my front yard and low and behold it grew. This year is about 2 1/2 ft tall and 4 to 5ft wide. I cut the flowers off it once in June and now it is in full bloom for a second time this summer. So I have plenty of dried fresh lavender, and I love your idea of placing them in a pillow.
I am thinking of buying the small growing lavender bushes to plant all along my front driveway so everyone that comes by can also enjoy this beautiful frangrance as they come into my home.

I just pulled down the whole Mrs. Meyer's lavender line on Amazon and it looks really intriguing. Is it heavily scented? I'm allergic to a lot of fragrances but if it's light, I'm gonna buy me some! Thanks for sharing.

Have you tried L'Occitane's Lavender soaps? They smell & look great and come straight from the lavender fields of southern France.
