    White Slacks

Amazing what memories you can get from a simple thing like a pair of pants...

    Img_0110_2I remember them.
I'm too active to keep them clean.
Mom wore white "slacks" alot when I was a little. She'd burn a crease down each pant leg.
She wore them to the stock car speedway on hot summer nights.
We'd have matching bouffants. Sometimes she'd wear a wiglet to heighten the size of her bouffant. Wow. You know what they say--"the higher the hair, the closer to God."  She'd fill my hair with pink Dippity-Do, (which was kept in her closet next to the rows of nail polish) load up my head with wire curlers and I'd have to sleep in those things. In the afternoon, she'd finish the look with a plastic headband. Saturday night speedway spectators would point and smile at me. I didn't feel cute-but I know now that I was.
If it was windy, she'd wear a sheer scarf.
I didn't like the white pants or the hair do or the pointing. My little sister would quietly cheer on our favorite car driver-David. "Go David!" Later, she'd fall asleep on the bench amidst all that noise. How?
All the while we wore crisp white pants.
Summer is waning-get out your white pants and wear them while you still can.

I'd love to wear white paints but there is an ordinance against it here in Blair. Something about disrupting the flight patterns of planes going into Epply Airfield in Omaha. A blinding reflection from the ground...I don't know. They also asterisked in my inability to tan and apparently my legs (being 100% German tanning doesn't take a hold) causes the same problems. I think it was the same thing that happened in Vegas when that light on top of the Luxor shone straight into the night sky and blinded the pilots. Big babies!

love this post, love that photo. this should be a layout, my dear! :) note to self to wear my white pants tomorrow, with pink of course.

This entry looks like a layout in the making to me, too!

I don't do white pants...I'm much too hard on them. LOL

Will don the tight whites in honor of great memories past ;)
I remember sleeping with my very long hair wrapped around orange juice cans...and my bangs 'taped' to a pink plastic thing on my forehead. Then there was the frosty blue eye shadow and nearly white pinkish lipstick....Ahhh those were the days!

"Sundayyyyyyyy at Thompson Drag Raceway!! Drag racing capitol of mid-Americaaaaaaa!" (I'll never get that radio commercial out of my head!)

Oh my gosh, you make me laugh. I do LOVE my Levi white capri pants. However, I have never thought of the speedway when I wear them. Huh, must be the age difference thing. LOL Had to toss that in. I can picture mom in her white pants and sheer scarf on her big hair. What a looker she was!! LOL No really she was and still is. Just happy the scarf and big hair went out of style, well atleast they have in Oklahoma, not to sure about Texas.

no white pants for me... yet. : )

OK, enough about the white pants! I still wear white pants, capris or slacks. The best part is when I read this little blog, I was wearing white slacks! I had to smile big time when I read these lovely words which I am sure, my daughter was not making fun of me...was she?! What I got from this was something totally different than the whole white pants thing. I got that I cared about how my daughter looked and that she remembered that. We are a reflection of our family where ever we go and you should look your best. Don't you agree? Keep everyone up to snuff and you won't get funny looks, just smiles! LOL, your big hair MOM!!

    LOVE THE IMAGERY HERE...
I'M WEARING CRISP WHITE SLACKS AS WE SPEAK...
    BUT, NO BOUFFANT..SORRY!
    L:)

Wait. What's wrong with the big hair and sheer scarf? Ask Sassy. I still do that to my hair, and I have a sheer scarf to go with every outfit. Love teasing my hair and sprayiing it all smooth. Are you making fun of me?

I loved reading this. :) My mom wore her hair in a bouffant when I was really little. That hair ruled our lives. If my mom had her hair up in curlers, or just fixed it, we couldn't go out in the wind, or the the beach...

White pants are so pretty and summer-y. One day I hope to be thin again and wear 'em!
